About
Not Yet was an AKB48 sub unit with one of the more honest names in pop. Producer Yasushi Akimoto, who also runs the AKB48 machine, picked it because he felt the members' singing and dancing were not very good yet. The group was announced at AKB48's Request Hour Set List Best 100 in January 2011, and its debut single, Shūmatsu Not Yet, came out that March. Akimoto wrote it, and it is about lovers who can hardly wait for the weekend. The lineup pulled in four familiar faces from across the AKB48 family: Yui Yokoyama, Rino Sashihara, Yuko Oshima and Rie Kitahara. Their album already landed in April 2014 and went straight to number one on the Weekly Oricon Albums Chart, selling 68,111 copies. They also sang the Japanese credits song for the film Hop, a track called Hug Tomo.
