Anthony Favier, who records as NTO, makes the kind of melodic and minimal techno that feels as vast as the Mediterranean coastline he calls home in Marseille. His sound is built on repetitive structures, deep bass, and slowly shifting melodic lines, and he insists on performing only his own compositions live, seeing himself first and foremost as a composer rather than a DJ. That distinction matters to how his music lands. His debut album Apnea, released in 2021, is a good place to start: it weaves minimal techno with guitar, keyboards, and vocals, pulling in collaborators like Monolink, Tricky, and French 79. The record was partly inspired by freediving, introduced to him by world champion Arthur Guérin. More recently he teamed up with French pianist Sofiane Pamart for Forever Friends in 2024, a project that pushes his melodic instincts toward classical piano territory. He is also a co founder of the beloved collective Hungry Music, alongside Worakls and Joachim Pastor.
