About
Olav & the Blues Cruise come out of Nijmegen and have their roots in the city's long blues tradition. Frontman and guitarist Olav Boereboom spent years playing in other people's bands, including local blues institution the Red Rooster Club, before channelling that experience into his own songs. The first result was a debut album called Unfulfilled Desire, a collection of compositions he had been building up over time, recorded with a group of musician friends as session players. The strong reception it got convinced him to put together a proper live band, which has since played stages across the Netherlands. A second album, Fulltime Lover, followed and earned equally warm reviews. The current lineup features seasoned players from the Nijmegen scene: drummer and producer Lude Bakema, bassist Gerard Vermeulen, guitarist Jan Gijselhart, and Frank Op 't Veld on Hammond and keyboards. Colombian rock and blues vocalist David Ramirez has joined as lead singer, freeing Boereboom to focus on his guitar work.
