About
One Bad Son built their reputation the hard way, touring relentlessly across Western Canada and at one point literally showing up at rock radio stations in person to play their song "Scarecrows" live. The gamble paid off: the track climbed to No. 5 on the Canadian charts, kicking off a run of five top 10 singles that stretched from "Retribution Blues" to "Raging Bull", which hit No. 1 on the Canadian Rock Charts in 2017. The Saskatoon outfit has shared stages with Buckcherry, Godsmack, Three Days Grace, Def Leppard, and Judas Priest along the way. The band has never stood still. Their 2014 album Black Buffalo produced "Satellite Hotel", a track that earned producer Eric Ratz a JUNO for Engineer of the Year. After founding guitarist Adam Hicks departed in 2020, Kittie guitarist Tara McLeod stepped in, and the revamped lineup released "The New Shit!" EP in 2024. Vocalist Shane Connery Volk moonlights as a comic book artist, and drummer Kurt Dahl works as an entertainment lawyer, which makes this one of the more unusually credentialed rock bands around.
