About
A 19 piece salsa big band founded in Arnhem over 25 years ago, Orquesta Salsabor draws its musicians from Cuba, Argentina, Curaçao and the Netherlands, and that mix of backgrounds shows in the music. Their repertoire spans the classic Cuban salsa and latin big band tradition, with nods to legends like Machito and Benny Moré, alongside the grittier New York Salsa Dura style of the 1970s and 80s. Think the sweaty, groove heavy sound from el barrio, as shaped by Eddie Palmieri, Willie Colón and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra. The band performs regularly on Dutch stages and at festivals and salsa events abroad, bringing a full, warm sound that works just as well for serious listeners as it does for dancers looking to move.
