About
Ought's debut full length More than Any Other Day landed in 2014 with a bang, earning a Best New Music nod from Pitchfork and showing up on year end lists from Rolling Stone, Drowned in Sound, and Paste, among others. The Montreal post punk four piece built their sound around Tim Darcy's restless, nervy vocals, jagged guitars, and a palpable sense of tension that drew comparisons to Pere Ubu and Talking Heads. They followed up quickly with Sun Coming Down in 2015, then took a longer run at their third record, Room Inside the World, enlisting French producer Nicolas Vernhes and releasing it in 2018. After a decade together, the band quietly called it quits in November 2021. Darcy and bassist Ben Stidworthy immediately announced a new project, Cola, on the very same day.
