Party Cannon (GB)

About

Also known as: PaRtY-CaNnOn

Party Cannon pull off something genuinely absurd: they play crushing slam death metal out of Dunfermline, Scotland, but they're probably most famous for going viral because their logo looks like it belongs on a birthday party invitation. That contrast is sort of the whole point. They describe their sound as "party slam", brutal early 2000s death metal in the vein of Dying Fetus and Carcass, laced with what they call "crushing disappointment". Their debut album Bong Hit Hospitalisation set the tone, mixing comedy, gore and relentless riffing, while their 2022 follow up Volumes of Vomit earned a spot on Metal Hammer's list of the ten best death metal albums of that year. Songs dedicated to a Pokémon episode and a tribute to Dani Filth featuring Street Fighter II footage give you a pretty good idea of where their heads are at.
