Patrick Wolf makes music that refuses to stay in one place. The South London singer songwriter built his reputation by layering electronic sampling over classical instruments like viola, piano, and ukulele, pulling together sounds that range from electronic pop to baroque chamber music within a single body of work. His early albums on Fat Cat Records, Lycanthropy and Wind in the Wires, drew serious critical attention, and the single Tristan, rooted in Cornish legend, became a lasting fan favourite. His third album, The Magic Position, brought him to a wider audience and sold out two nights at Shepherd's Bush Empire. The Bachelor followed as a more emotionally raw record shaped by depression and then by falling in love, while Lupercalia leaned into optimism and landed him a deal with Mercury Records. He later looked back across his catalogue with Sundark and Riverlight, an acoustic retrospective marking ten years as a recording artist.
