Paul Smith
Paul Smith has one upcoming show in the Netherlands: on November 10, 2027 at Meervaart, Amsterdam.
About
Paul Smith is the voice and frantic energy behind Maxïmo Park, the indie rock band he joined after someone spotted him singing along to Stevie Wonder's "Superstition". He took over lead vocals from guitarist Duncan Lloyd and then bassist Archis Tiku, who both wanted to focus on writing. Critics have long compared his introspective lyrics and hyperactive stage presence to Morrissey and Jarvis Cocker. Away from the band, Smith keeps busy. He sang on Mark Ronson's pop soul remix of "Apply Some Pressure" for the Version covers album, and teamed up with Field Music's Peter Brewis for Frozen by Sight, built from his travel writing. Solo records include Margins, Contradictions (as Paul Smith and The Intimations) and Diagrams. In 2023 he made Nowhere and Everywhere with Rachel Unthank of The Unthanks, released as Unthank: Smith, which earned four stars from The Guardian.
