About
PennyLeen started out on saxophone, picking it up as a teenager and sharing a stage with Dutch sax icon Hans Dulfer. From there she played with Rosa King and with Kaz Lux, the former frontman of Brainbox. Over the years she moved to the front as a singer, and her guest spots include appearances alongside soul legend Solomon Burke, trombonist Fred Wesley, guitarist Eelco Gelling and The Posies. The Arnhem artist makes music that mixes soul, jazz, funk, pop and rock, and she has released several albums. One of them features a duet with Mark Lennon of Venice. She has been active as a musician for around thirty five years, and her live band pairs a full rhythm section and guitar with keys and a trio of backing vocalists.
