About
Peter Evans plays trumpet in ways most trumpet players simply don't go near. Based in New York, he works deep in free improvisation and avant garde territory, collaborating over the years with heavy hitters like John Zorn, Evan Parker, Mary Halvorson, and Peter Brötzmann. He has led several groups, including the Peter Evans Quintet and the Zebulon trio, and was part of the cult favourite outfit Mostly Other People Do the Killing. In 2011 he launched his own label, More is More Records, giving himself a home base for a prolific stream of releases. His discography ranges from raw solo and small group recordings to large ensemble work, and he has performed in some unexpected places too, including the 2016 Kanye West x Adidas fashion show in New York City. He is also a member of the International Contemporary Ensemble, showing he moves just as comfortably in contemporary classical circles as in jazz.
