About
Phoneboy started out as a duo called 'Wyn and Ricky' before swapping that for a name nodding to how much Ricky Dana was glued to his phone. The Hoboken, New Jersey band formed in 2018 around Wyn Barnum, Dana, bassist James Fusco and keyboardist Jordan Torres, and they play indie and alternative rock with an indie pop streak. Their influences are easy to hear: Arctic Monkeys, the Strokes and Rex Orange County. They put out a self titled debut in April 2021, followed by Moving Out in 2023 and Heartbreak Designer in April 2025. Torres took lead vocals for the first time on the single "I Look Alive", which was a nice shake up. Along the way they have opened for the Happy Fits, Daisy the Great, Good Kid and The Wrecks, and they have been known to sell merch built around their "Roses are Dead" symbol.
