About
Pilli Bebek have been at it since 1993, racking up over 1600 live shows across 42 cities under a name borrowed from a beloved Turkish children's TV show of the 1970s. The Ankara born, now Istanbul based group pulls from an unusually wide range of influences, heavy metal, Turkish art music, Latin and Scandinavian sounds, yet they feel most at home in the Barcarolle style. Their album "Olsun" became the backbone of the hit crime series Behzat Ç., which brought them to a much wider audience and led to a dedicated soundtrack album in 2012. The Behzat Ç. connection has stayed central to their story. In 2024 alone they put out two more soundtrack albums tied to the franchise, "Çekiç ve Gül" and "Ankara Yanıyor", plus the 20 track "Kuduz Düğünü". Frontman Cem Kısmet has been the constant through it all since the very beginning, with the current lineup also featuring guitarist Emre Yalçıntaş.
