About
Robert Soeterboek's raw, powerful voice is the defining force behind Plan Nine, a Dutch rock band that blends progressive rock, blues and classic rock into something that feels both familiar and fresh. The debut album The Long Lost Songs was made together with musician and producer Arjen Lucassen of Ayreon fame, and the title is no accident: many of the songs had been sitting unrecorded for about thirty years. The record landed at number 3 in the Dutch Album Top 100 and picked up strong reviews across the board. On stage the band draws on a lineup of seasoned players. Guitarist Marcel Singor, known from Kayak, delivers extended and sweeping solos, while Willem Hoving brings soulful Hammond organ lines and Joris Lindner anchors everything on bass. Drummer Koen Herfst, who has played with Vandenberg among others, drives the rhythm hard. Backing vocalists Irene Jansen and Jane Goulding round out the sound with warm, layered harmonies.
