About
Popup Choir flips the usual concert dynamic on its head: the audience is the act. The Dutch duo of guitarist Tijmen de Koning and conductor Maarten Bos guide a room full of strangers into singing together in three part harmony, no prior experience required. Their sets blend well known pop songs from artists like Mariah Carey, Queen, Ed Sheeran and John Lennon with fast wit and sharp improvisation, and the centrepiece of each show is teaching the entire crowd a full arrangement together. The results have filled some serious rooms, including Paradiso, Carré, the Concertgebouw and the main stage at Lowlands.
