Pothamus are a three piece post metal outfit from Mechelen, Belgium, blending what they describe as tribal post metal and sludge into something that lands firmly in doomgaze and shoegaze territory. Their debut full length, Raya, arrived in late 2020 on the Ghent label Consouling Sounds after a crowdfunding campaign, and the record earned them repeated spots in De Zwaarste Lijst, the Belgian heavy music chart, across 2021, 2022 and 2023. That kind of staying power is hard to fake. Since then they have picked up radio play on Radio 1 and Studio Brussel, and shared stages at Rock Herk, Eurosonic and Alcatraz Metal Festival alongside more intimate rooms like Botanique and Trix. In 2024 they signed to Pelagic Records, the international heavy music label, which set the stage for their second album Abur, released in 2025.
