About
Prince Daddy & the Hyena turned a near disaster into their best known record. After a van crash left the band and crew temporarily disabled on the road, and then a break in cost them $7,500 worth of gear, they wrote their self titled 2022 album about the fear of death. Coming out of Albany, New York, they play slacker punk with streaks of power pop, post hardcore and emo. Frontman Kory Gregory has pointed to Weezer, the Strokes, Jeff Rosenstock and Green Day as big influences, and once described their second album Cosmic Thrill Seekers as the soundtrack to a Disney film played by a punk band. The band started in 2014 and has since put out several EPs and a run of albums, moving from Broken World Media to Counter Intuitive Records and then Pure Noise for the 2022 record. They have toured Europe with Oso Oso and shared bills with Drug Church. More recently they released Big Box Store Heart as the lead single for their fourth album, Hotwire Trip Switch.
