About
Also known as: Tino Piontek
Purple Disco Machine, the Dresden based DJ and producer Tino Piontek, won a Grammy in 2023 for Best Remixed Recording, Non Classical, thanks to his remix of Lizzo's "About Damn Time". That kind of recognition makes sense when you look at his track record: in 2020 alone he turned out official remixes for Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga, while his own track "Hypnotized" with Sophie and the Giants hit number two on the Italian Singles Chart and went double platinum. His sound sits at the intersection of nu disco, funky house and classic dance music, shaped in part by a deep love of 1970s and 1980s funk. His debut album dropped on Sony Music in 2017, built on years of international DJ sets that had already made him a familiar name on the circuit. He also hosts his own show, Purple Disco Tales, on SiriusXM's Studio 54 channel every Friday.
