About
pyncher are a Manchester four piece who would rather you didn't pin them down. Guitarist Harvey O'Toole has said they like people not seeing them as a specific type of band, and the labels thrown at them cover a lot of ground: post punk, garage rock, alternative rock, with a nod to krautrock and psychedelia from The Guardian. His own tentative description is "theatrical alternative music". The lineup is Sam Blakeley on vocals and guitar, Harvey O'Toole on lead guitar, Britt Dewhurst on bass and Jack Rainbow on drums. They formed in 2020 and spent lockdown writing and rehearsing, then made their Manchester live debut at Fuel Cafe Bar in Withington. Gigs at spots like The White Hotel followed, and a reputation for high energy shows stuck. BBC Music Introducing called them electrifying and one of the city's most talked about new acts. Their influences run from the Beatles and the Velvet Underground to Pixies, Sonic Youth and the White Stripes.
