About
Quatuor Agate takes its name from the Second String Sextet by Brahms, which the composer wrote for his love Agathe von Siebold. That connection to Brahms runs deep in the quartet's musical identity. Based in Paris, the group trained with Eberhard Feltz in Berlin, with Mathieu Herzog in Paris, and with the Quatuor Ebène in Munich. Their repertoire centres on chamber music, and their particular affinity for Brahms shapes the way they approach the string quartet tradition.
