About
ravex is a Japanese electronic music group put together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Avex label, the name itself blending "rave" and "Avex". The trio brings together Shinichi Osawa, Tomoyuki Tanaka, and DJ Taku Takahashi, and their whole setup is built around collaborations with fellow Avex artists. BoA and DJ Ozma both featured on their early singles, giving the project some serious label firepower right out of the gate. What makes ravex a bit unusual is the visual side: Tezuka Productions came on board to supply art, animation, and the iconic characters of Osamu Tezuka, including Astro Boy. Their debut album Trax landed in 2009, with a deluxe edition packing in music videos and a fresh 18 minute animated short featuring those Tezuka characters.
