About
Rebel as a Poet is the solo project of Jorn ten Ham, who spent five years quietly writing songs after his garage rock band Yip Roc folded in 2020. The shift in direction was significant: where Yip Roc was loud and raw, this new chapter leans into Americana, fingerpicked electric guitar, and lyrics that sit somewhere between poetry and philosophy. His songs look at modern society from a kind of bird's eye view, raising questions about the struggles of navigating life in complicated times, while staying personal enough that listeners can map their own experiences onto them. The result is music that is both reflective and grounding, with sharp songwriting at its core.
