About

Reggie and the Full Effect is the solo project of James Dewees, best known as the keyboardist for The Get Up Kids, and it started almost by accident: he recorded four songs as a joke while playing with Coalesce, handed them out on cassette at shows, and eventually ended up on Vagrant Records. The project is as much about elaborate pranks as it is about music. One album was styled to look like a promo copy not meant for sale, and another hid its disc under the CD tray, confusing buyers enough that Vagrant had to add instructions on later pressings. Over seven full length albums, Dewees has cycled through emo pop and pop punk while juggling multiple alter egos, including the British electropop persona Fluxuation and the heavier Common Denominator. The 2005 record Songs Not to Get Married To produced three singles and featured tours with Alkaline Trio and My Chemical Romance, while Last Stop: Crappy Town from 2008 was a raw concept album about addiction and rehab that Vagrant initially shelved for being too heavy. The most recent album came out in 2018.
