About

Also known as: Rev Co, RevCo, The Revolting Cocks

What started as a drunken joke in a Chicago bar ended up becoming one of industrial music's most gloriously unhinged side projects. Revolting Cocks grew out of a connection between Al Jourgensen of Ministry and Richard 23 of Belgian act Front 242, who crossed paths when Front 242 came to the US as Ministry's opening act in 1984. Their debut album Big Sexy Land landed in 1986, throwing industrial, hard rock and EBM together with heavy sampling and synthesized beats. The follow up Beers, Steers and Queers pushed even further into distortion, and their cover of Olivia Newton John's Physical cost so much to clear that it nearly broke the band's relationship with Wax Trax! Records entirely. The group covered everyone from Rod Stewart to Bauhaus over the years, and went through multiple hiatuses and revivals. A reunion tour in 2017 brought the classic lineup of Richard 23, Luc van Acker, Paul Barker and Chris Connelly back under the original Revolting Cocks name, playing festivals across Europe before heading back to the US. Jourgensen announced new recording was underway in 2018.
