About
Roman violinist and conductor Riccardo Minasi has built his career around historically informed performance, bringing an intimate knowledge of baroque and classical repertoire to everything he does. He has played as soloist and concertmaster with some of the most respected period ensembles around, from Le Concert des Nations under Jordi Savall to Il Giardino Armonico, and has shared the stage with musicians like Viktoria Mullova and Reinhard Goebel. In 2007 he founded Musica Antiqua Roma, a chamber group focused on rediscovering forgotten Roman composers of the 17th and 18th centuries. On the conducting side, Minasi was the founding principal conductor of Il pomo d'oro, whose very first recording of Vivaldi walked away with prizes. He later took the helm of the Mozarteum Orchestra and has maintained a deep ongoing partnership with Ensemble Resonanz, including leading their BBC Proms debut in 2024 with an all Mozart programme. His discography stretches across Biber, Handel, C.P.E. Bach, Pergolesi and Mozart, racking up multiple recording awards along the way.
