Rival Sons came out of Long Beach, California, in 2009, and quickly built a reputation for sounding like the best parts of classic rock without feeling like a nostalgia act. The core four are Jay Buchanan on vocals, Scott Holiday on guitar, Dave Beste on bass, and Michael Miley on drums. Their debut Before the Fire, produced by Dave Cobb, got them tagged as a band to watch almost immediately, landing them support slots with AC/DC, Alice Cooper, and Evanescence. The cover art for their second album Pressure & Time was designed by Storm Thorgerson, the legendary visual mind behind Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin artwork, who did it voluntarily because he simply liked the band. Pressure & Time hit number one on Amazon's Hard Rock chart and earned them the Breakthrough Artist of the Year title from Classic Rock Magazine. They have released eight albums in total, all produced by Dave Cobb, and have picked up two Grammy nominations along the way. Signed to Atlantic Records through Cobb's Low Country Sound imprint, they have toured with Judas Priest, Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath, and built a loyal following across Europe through years of near constant touring.
