About
River Whyless is a four piece folk act out of Asheville, North Carolina, built around the rare luxury of three lead vocalists. Ryan O'Keefe, Halli Anderson, and Daniel Shearin all share vocal duties, with Anderson also playing violin and Shearin adding harmonium to the mix. That layered, textured sound runs through their catalogue, from their 2012 debut A Stone, a Leaf, an Unfound Door through to Monoflora in 2022. Over a decade together, the band has put out four studio albums via labels including Roll Call Records, steadily refining an indie folk sound that leans into lush harmonies and acoustic warmth. Kindness, a Rebel from 2018 is a strong entry point if you want to get a feel for what they do. Asheville turned out to be the right call as a home base, fitting naturally with the rootsy, community minded spirit the band puts into their music.
