Warsaw's Riverside have spent over two decades crafting a sound that sits right at the intersection of progressive metal and progressive rock, dense with atmosphere yet always anchored by strong melodic instincts. Formed in 2001 by bassist and vocalist Mariusz Duda, guitarist Piotr Grudziński, drummer Piotr Kozieradzki, and keyboardist Jacek Melnicki, the band built a devoted following through records like Second Life Syndrome and Anno Domini High Definition, the latter becoming a bestseller in Poland within its first two weeks. Their sixth album, Love, Fear and the Time Machine, pushed their reach further beyond Poland than any previous release. The band has carried on through real heartbreak: guitarist Piotr Grudziński died of sudden cardiac arrest in February 2016, and rather than rush to replace him, the remaining members continued as a trio before bringing in Maciej Meller as a full member in 2020. Wasteland, their first album without Grudziński, arrived in 2018, followed by ID.Entity in 2023 and a live record in 2025. In April 2026, both Duda and Meller announced they were leaving the band.
