Rob Rock has spent decades as one of heavy metal's most reliable voices, best known as the frontman of Impellitteri, the shred metal outfit he has anchored across multiple stints since 1987. His range and staying power have made him a go to collaborator across the genre, lending his vocals to projects like Avantasia, Axel Rudi Pell, Warrior, and a Randy Rhoads tribute, as well as playing a lead role in Timo Tolkki's metal opera Avalon on the album The Land of New Hope. Rock's solo output, starting with Rage of Creation in 2000, sits firmly in the power metal and melodic metal space, shaped in part by his Christian faith, which runs through much of his lyrical content. Before going solo he was part of the cult supergroup M.A.R.S. alongside Tony MacAlpine, Tommy Aldridge, and Rudy Sarzo, and later fronted Joshua, whose album Intense Defense was called by HM Magazine probably the best melodic metal album in the universe. That kind of praise tends to follow him around.
