Roger Hodgson is the voice behind some of the most recognisable songs of the 1970s and 80s, having written and sung the bulk of Supertramp's biggest hits, including "The Logical Song", "Dreamer", "Give a Little Bit", "Take the Long Way Home" and "Breakfast in America". He co founded the band and stayed at the helm until 1983, when he left to pursue a solo career. His writing tends to circle around spiritual and philosophical territory, and his knack for pairing those ideas with instantly memorable melodies is what set his contributions apart. After a handful of solo records and a deliberate step back from the road, Hodgson returned to touring in 1997 and has kept at it ever since. He performed "Give a Little Bit" at the 2007 Concert for Diana at Wembley Stadium, a moment he described as magical when the crowd and both princes rose to sing along. He still regularly performs the Supertramp catalogue live, treating songs like "Dreamer" as something that, in his own words, brings out the dreamer in everyone.
