About

Royal Southern Brotherhood grew out of a New Orleans meeting of musical heavyweights, bringing together Cyril Neville, Devon Allman, Mike Zito, drummer Yonrico Scott, and bassist Charlie Wooton. The seed was planted by a manager who noticed the chemistry between Neville and Zito after their collaboration on 'Pearl River' won the Blues Music Award for Song of the Year. Allman was skeptical at first, comparing the idea to putting five quarterbacks in a room and telling them to play football, but he came around fast, and the whole thing went from concept to rehearsals in just two months. Their self titled debut landed in 2012 and shot to number five on the Billboard Blues chart, drawing praise for blending rock, blues, and funk into something that felt both classic and fresh. The Boston Globe called it simultaneously progressive and traditional. The band won a Blues Music Award for DVD of the Year in 2014, and went on to record the Muscle Shoals Sessions at the legendary Fame Studio in Alabama. The lineup has shifted over the years, with Tyrone Vaughan, nephew of Stevie Ray Vaughan, eventually joining the guitar roster.
