About
Ryan McGarvey is a blues rock guitarist and singer from Albuquerque, New Mexico, whose playing draws heavily from Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He caught serious attention early when Joe Bonamassa personally praised his ability to absorb those influences and make them his own, and in 2010 Eric Clapton hand picked him to perform at the prestigious Crossroads Guitar Festival in Illinois, sharing stages over the years with B.B. King, Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, and ZZ Top among others. His debut Forward in Reverse came out in 2007 and won a New Mexico Music Award for Blues Song of the Year. Since then he has built up five studio and live records, including the 2018 studio album Heavy Hearted, recorded with drummer Logan Nix and bassist Carmine Rojas. He has found a particularly devoted following in Europe, completing multiple tours across Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Austria, and noting that the fan appreciation there hits differently than back home.
