SANNEWIES

About

SANNEWIES makes Dutch language alternative pop that feels closer to cinema than to a radio playlist. Her songs move between melancholic ballads and driving, life affirming pop tracks, held together by mysterious soundscapes, expressive guitar lines and a rhythm section that jolts you back whenever you drift too far into your thoughts. The melodic hooks tend to linger well after the music stops. Her lyrics are where things get personal and strange in equal measure. She writes about the things she hasn't figured out yet, emotions like love, anger, fear and letting go, but she isn't afraid to wrap them in a layer of theatrical fiction when the mood calls for it. The result is something poetic and honest at the same time. On stage she brings the same emotional openness, no holding back, no hesitation.
