Three brothers and a shared philosophy: that is the Schumann Quartett in a nutshell. Mark, Erik and Ken Schumann form the core of this string quartet from Köln, with violinist Veit Hertenstein rounding out the four. What sets them apart is their conviction that a piece of music only truly comes alive in the concert hall. No two performances are the same, because the energy of a room and the connection with an audience push the musicians somewhere unpredictable every time. Ken Schumann has put it plainly: the group wants to go as far as their collective excitement and spontaneity can take them.
