About
Scott Hamilton swam against the current when most of his contemporaries in the 1970s were chasing free jazz or fusion. The American tenor saxophonist turned instead to the swing and bebop of the 1930s through 1950s, and his warm, rich tone places him squarely in the lineage of Ben Webster, Coleman Hawkins and Zoot Sims. He has built a long and productive partnership with the Rein de Graaff Trio, the Dutch rhythm section of pianist Rein de Graaff, bassist Marius Beets and drummer Eric Ineke. That collaboration has already produced at least one live recording, Live At The Jazzroom. De Graaff's trio has backed dozens of American jazz greats over the years, making them natural and seasoned companions for Hamilton's straight ahead sound.
