About
Also known as: Saron Gas
Originally called Saron Gas, this Pretoria band changed their name in 2002 after being told it sounded too close to the chemical weapon sarin gas. They settled on Seether, borrowing from a Veruca Salt song, and quickly made their mark on US rock radio with 'Fine Again' hitting number one on Active Rock that same year. The collaboration with Evanescence vocalist Amy Lee on 'Broken' brought them even wider attention, peaking at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and crossing over into the UK and Australia. Lead vocalist and guitarist Shaun Morgan is the only original member still standing, with bassist Dale Stewart and drummer John Humphrey having been core parts of the lineup for a long time. The band has racked up an impressive string of number one hits on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, including 'Remedy', 'Fake It', 'Words as Weapons', and 'Wasteland', across nine studio albums. Their most recent record, The Surface Seems So Far, came out in 2024.
