About
Shayne Ward made history as the first X Factor winner to release an original song as his winner's single. That debut single, "That's My Goal", shifted 313,000 copies on its first day alone in 2005, landing him the Christmas number one and making it one of the fastest selling singles the UK had ever seen. His self titled debut album followed in 2006, topping the charts in the UK and Ireland and going platinum on both sides of the Irish Sea, with hit singles "No Promises" and "Stand by Me" keeping him firmly in the public eye. His second album, Breathless, went five times platinum in Ireland and continued his run of top 10 hits. After parting ways with Simon Cowell's Syco label in 2011, Ward took a more independent path, crowd funding his 2015 album Closer through PledgeMusic. Around the same time he pivoted into acting, joining the cast of Coronation Street as Aidan Connor and later appearing in The Good Ship Murder from 2023.
