Sia spent years making music quietly before the world caught up with her. The Australian singer and songwriter built her craft through acid jazz band Crisp in Adelaide, then moved to London to sing for Zero 7 and Jamiroquai, and later relocated to New York, releasing albums like Colour the Small One and Some People Have Real Problems that earned devoted fans but modest mainstream attention. A turning point came when "Breathe Me" soundtracked the final scene of Six Feet Under, giving her a significant boost in the US. Rather than push harder for the spotlight, Sia stepped back from performing and channeled her writing into songs for other artists, including "Titanium" with David Guetta, "Diamonds" for Rihanna and "Pretty Hurts" for Beyoncé. Her return as a solo act landed spectacularly: 1000 Forms of Fear debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and "Cheap Thrills" from This Is Acting hit number one on the Hot 100. Since then she has kept her face hidden behind a wig in public, a deliberate choice to hold onto her privacy.
