About
Siena Root built their sound on the same heavy organ, howling guitars and big drum energy that defined late 1960s and early 1970s rock, and they have been hauling that sound across European stages since the early 2000s. The Stockholm quartet draws comparisons to early Deep Purple and Uriah Heep, which is not accidental: they record on analogue gear and lean into bluesy, soulful vocals and psychedelic textures. The band name ties back to the earthy brownish colour sienna, a nod to the warm, organic feel they aim for. Over more than two decades they have cycled through a revolving cast of vocalists and guest musicians, treating live shows as genuine collaborative events. Their discography stretches from the 2004 debut A New Day Dawning through to The Secret of Our Time in 2020 and Revelation in 2023, with a live record Made in KuBa landing in 2025. The current core lineup of Sam Riffer, Love Forsberg, Zubaida Solid and Johan Borgström keeps the band firmly rooted in that analogue, genre blending groove.
