Siiickbrain, the project of Caroline Miner Smith, sits in a genuinely hard to pin down corner of heavy music, mixing hyperpop energy with industrial grit, alt metal riffs and the kind of screamed stream of consciousness lyrics that Kerrang! once described as "a runaway stream of consciousness". Nylon put it more bluntly, calling her songs "jagged part metal, part hyperpop explosions", and that about nails it. Her biggest influences are Death Grips, Deftones and Suicideboys, which tells you plenty. She dropped her first track in 2020 and quickly racked up some serious cosigns, appearing on a Skrillex song alongside Swae Lee, collaborating with Pussy Riot founder Nadya Tolokonnikova on "Power" (which ended up on the Bullet Train soundtrack), and supporting Bring Me the Horizon on their North American tour. Her debut album My Masochistic Mind arrived in late 2023 through Lowly Records, with singles "Die Quietly" and "Psychopath" leading the charge.
