Sin Bandera (MX)

About

Also known as: Sin Banderas, sin bandera

Sin Bandera built their reputation on romantic ballads that somehow managed to feel deeply personal while racking up Latin Grammy wins and topping the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks. The Mexican duo, Leonel Garcia and Noel Schajris, clicked from their very first writing session, knocking out three songs in a single day and going on to release a self titled debut in 2001 that spread their name across Latin America, Spain and beyond. Their single Entra En Mi Vida even served as the theme for a Mexican telenovela, and follow up tracks like Kilometros became genuine crowd favorites. Their second album De Viaje landed three consecutive number one singles in Mexico, a feat only matched at the time by RBD and Shakira. Later they pushed further into soulful R&B territory with Pasado, reworking international ballads from the 1970s and 1980s. They also found time to collaborate with Laura Pausini on the Manana album and to open concerts for Alejandro Sanz. A greatest hits collection, Hasta Ahora, rounded up the highlights of a career that made them one of the defining Latin pop duos of their era.
