About
Formed at the Yehudi Menuhin School in 2007, the Sitkovetsky Trio has carved out a strong reputation in the classical chamber music world as a piano trio. The group took the International Commerzbank Chamber Music Award in 2008, followed by the Nordmetall Chamber Music Award at the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival in 2009, signaling early on that they were a serious force in the genre. The trio has seen some lineup changes over the years. For a long stretch, violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky, cellist Leonard Elschenbroich, and pianist Wu Qian made up the core of the group. In 2019, German Korean cellist Isang Enders stepped in after Elschenbroich's departure, keeping the ensemble's momentum going.
