About
Also known as: Six 60
SIX60 named themselves after the address of the Dunedin flat where it all started, 660 Castle Street, and that grassroots origin story has followed them all the way to playing sold out stadium shows for 50,000 fans. The New Zealand band blends alternative rock, soul, R&B and electronica into a sound that clearly resonates at scale: their self titled debut hit number one in the New Zealand charts and went gold within its first week, while singles like "Don't Forget Your Roots" and "Rise Up" racked up triple and double platinum certifications respectively. In 2019 they became the first New Zealand act to sell out Western Springs Stadium, and in 2021 they headlined Eden Park, the largest concert of that year. The 2020 documentary "Six60: Till the Lights Go Out" traces the full arc from that Castle Street flat to stadium headliners, and in 2021 the band bought the original house and funded four performing arts scholarships at the University of Otago.
