Skyharbor started as a solo studio project by New Delhi guitarist Keshav Dhar, but things snowballed fast when TesseracT vocalist Daniel Tompkins reached out to collaborate in 2010. Their debut album, Blinding White Noise: Illusion and Chaos, came out in 2012 as a double disc featuring two different vocalists, and even pulled in guest solos from Marty Friedman of Megadeth. Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler personally handpicked them as support on the band's India tour date that same year, which says a lot about the impression they made early on. Their sound shifted noticeably by the time their second album Guiding Lights landed in 2014, moving away from heavy guitar riff territory toward more progressive arrangements and ambient textures. That album was crowd funded through PledgeMusic and produced by Forrester Savell, known for his work with Karnivool and Dead Letter Circus. The band went through several lineup changes around 2015, including both their drummer and frontman departing, before pushing forward with new members and eventually releasing their third album Sunshine Dust after a full re recording of the sessions.
