About

Also known as: Snap, Snap Attack, Snap! 2003, Snapp, Snäp

Few acts defined the early 90s dancefloor quite like Snap!, the Frankfurt based project of producers Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti. Operating under the aliases Benito Benites and John Virgo Garrett III, they assembled a rotating cast of American vocalists and rappers to front their records, a move that helped disguise their German origins at a time when the producers felt that could be a commercial liability. The result was a string of massive eurodance hits, most famously "The Power" (1990) and "Rhythm Is a Dancer" (1992), both of which topped charts across the UK, Germany, and much of Europe. With Turbo B rapping and Thea Austin singing, "Rhythm Is a Dancer" became their defining moment, reaching number one in seven countries and going Gold in both Germany and the UK. Snap! kept evolving through the mid 90s, shifting toward a more progressive house sound on their third album Welcome to Tomorrow, before officially disbanding in 1996. They returned in the 2000s with remixed versions of their biggest tracks, including "Rhythm Is a Dancer 2003" and "The Power of Bhangra 2003", finding fresh chart action all over again.
