About
Santa Barbara's Snot built their reputation on a ferocious blend of nu metal, hardcore punk, and funk metal, and their 1997 debut Get Some remains the definitive document of that sound. The band's story is inseparable from frontman Lynn Strait, whose death in a car accident in 1998 cut short what could have been a genuinely significant run. Rather than quietly shelve the unfinished second album, the surviving members turned it into Strait Up, a tribute record featuring vocalists from System of a Down, Korn, Slipknot, Incubus and a host of other heavyweights, each recording in their own style to honor their friend. Snot has reformed several times since, cycling through vocalists and lineups with varying degrees of momentum. Their most recent return came in 2024 with Andy Knapp stepping up as frontman, and by mid 2025 the band had entered the studio with producer Chris Collier to begin work on new material, the first proper recording sessions since Strait's era.
