Anja Plaschg, the Austrian artist behind the Soap&Skin project, makes music that is genuinely hard to put in a box: experimental art pop, neoclassical dark wave, chamber pop, and dark ambient all coexist in her work. Her debut full length, Lovetune for Vacuum, landed in 2009 to excellent reviews and cracked the Austrian top ten, with strong chart runs in Germany, Belgium, and France too. She co wrote "Goodbye" with Apparat, a track that ended up closing the fourth season of Breaking Bad and later became the theme for the German Netflix series Dark. Plaschg has never stayed purely in music. She scored and acted in the 2011 film Stillleben, played Ingeborg Bachmann in Die Geträumten, and in 2024 both starred in and composed the score for the horror film The Devil's Bath. That same year she released Torso, her fourth studio album, showing no sign of slowing down across four studio albums, three EPs, and two film scores.
