About
Also known as: Sophia Regina Allison, Sophie Allison
Soccer Mommy, the stage name of Sophia Allison, makes the kind of indie rock that feels deeply personal and weirdly catchy at the same time. Her sound pulls from 1990s alternative rock and layers it with 2000s pop hooks, a combination some critics have dubbed "bubblegrunge", putting her somewhere between Slowdive and Avril Lavigne in the best possible way. Her confessional lyrics are a big part of the appeal, raw enough to feel real but polished enough to stick in your head. She started out posting home recordings to Bandcamp under the Soccer Mommy name before signing with Fat Possum and releasing her breakthrough album Clean in 2018. Since then she has put out three more studio albums, including Color Theory, Sometimes Forever, and Evergreen in 2024, all through Loma Vista Recordings. Along the way she has shared stages with Mitski, Phoebe Bridgers, Paramore, Vampire Weekend and the National, cementing her place as one of the more interesting voices in indie rock right now.
