About
Also known as: 솔라
Solar is the leader and main vocalist of Mamamoo, but she has built a pretty full life outside the group too. Her solo debut came in April 2020 with "Spit It Out", and a few weeks later she picked up her first music show win as a soloist. Two years on, her first EP, Face, arrived with the lead single "Honey", which Dazed picked as one of the best K pop tracks of 2022, calling it sweet yet bright and bold. She also writes songs, and her earlier Solar Emotion project and 2018 EP showed off that side of her. Beyond music, she went into musical theatre as the lead in Mata Hari in 2022, where critics praised her clear, powerful voice. She runs a hugely popular YouTube channel called Solarsido, has judged singing shows, and won entertainer awards for her variety work. Her latest upload, "Colors", landed in April 2024.
