About
Somali Yacht Club started as a jam project in Lviv, Ukraine, back in 2010, but the three piece grew into something far more serious. Their sound pulls from stoner rock, psychedelia, post metal and shoegaze, and has been likened to Pelican, Tool and Kyuss, which gives you a good sense of the heavy, hypnotic territory they occupy. After a self released EP called Sandsongs in 2011, they signed to Bilocation Records and dropped their debut LP The Sun in 2014. From there the band kept building. The Sea followed in 2018, and by 2022 they had landed on Season of Mist for The Space, a serious step up in terms of label profile. The lineup is lean: Ihor Pryshliak on guitar and vocals, Artem Bemba on bass and Lesyk Mahula on drums. Three people making a very large sound.
